Past, present, future

Updated: Jan 17, 2020

This past weekend, on a break from practicing, I noticed a new text alert that had come in. To my delight, it was a photo of four of my students, all from different "generations." They happened to all be at the MTNA Collegiate Symposium, held this year at Ball State University, where they met each other for the first time. They took a group selfie and texted it to me.

Lauren is a current student, who performed in the featured masterclass with Dr. Robert Palmer at the Symposium.

Rachel is a 2019 MM graduate, who is living in Indianapolis and has a thriving private studio.

Louie graduated two years ago with his MM, and he is currently a doctoral student in Piano Pedagogy at the University of South Carolina.

And Ryan graduated some time ago before going to earn his master's at Southern Methodist University, and he is now the director of the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy.

How wonderful to see my students out in the world, doing interesting things and engaging with each other!
