As you know if you have been reading my posts, Justine Cormack and I are preparing to perform the complete Beethoven sonatas for violin and piano this weekend on Feb 14, 15, 16 at three different venues in the Central Otago region of New Zealand’s South Island.
Here is what our rehearsal schedule has looked like:
I arrived in NZ on Wednesday Jan 29th.
Bannockburn rehearsals:
On Friday and Saturday, Jan 31 and Feb 1, we played through the ten sonatas: Nos 1-5 on Friday, 6-10 on Saturday.
On Sunday Feb 2, we rehearsed program 1 (Sonatas 1, 6, and 9).
On Monday Feb 3 we rehearsed program 3 (Sonatas 4, 5 and 10).
On Tuesday Feb 4 we rehearsed part of program 2 (Sonatas 2 and 3) and also got massages.
On Wednesday Feb 5 we rehearsed the other half of program 2 (Sonatas 7 and 8).
Wanaka Centre rehearsals:
On Thursday Feb 6 we rehearsed Program 2.
On Friday Feb 7 we rehearsed Program 3.
On Saturday Feb 8 we rehearsed Program 2.
Today we were back in Bannockburn, rehearsing Program 1, and tomorrow we will go back to rehearse Program 3 along with an extra dose of the famous "Kreutzer" Sonata.
Yesterday we took a day off and went for a hike up Rocky Mountain, a mountain outside Wanaka. It was a 90-minute climb with a breathtaking panoramic payoff at the top.
